I’m Natalie, and this is my husband, David. We have two small human boy beans who get dragged into everything. Quin (3) happily. Dempsey (1) kicking and teething and/or nursing in the ergo.
David does most if not all of the heavy lifting around here and building of things which I’m forever in awe of. I design most of the stuff, while also making sure it looks good. Together we make it work.
For the longest time, we’ve had a love of the ocean, the land and the planet. This admiration blossomed exponentially through scuba diving, which we gave up teaching after 10yrs as the little ones came along.
Diving certainly changed my life for the better as it took me around the world and eventually to the South Pacific where David and I met.
There was long distance, exhausting visa processes, lawyers and even two weddings! But we made it. This Brit hopped the pond, and we started our life together.
We had been living in Miami for 6yrs and had a second bun in the oven. Having lovingly turned our .25 acres of chain link fence and sod into a Florida native butterfly oasis, we knew it was time for more land (and a second bathroom!)
We had taken pride in our raised beds and hay bale gardens and even our utterly illegal hens. But let’s be honest, we did not want to raise children or chooks in Miami. So as Dempsey was baking, our first home went on the market. Yes, we are crazy, and yes, the rest is a blurrrrrrrr. By 3 weeks postpartum, we were moving to our new West Palm Beach/Loxahatchee 1.25-acre plot to start the land transformation process again.
We want to be self-sufficient and assist if not enable others to do the same. Less reliance on the grocery store. Less harm to the environment. Less waste. Less chemicals. Less process. Less illness. Taking it back to the basics. Back to the land. Back to the soil.
Our no-till veggie plot currently full of produce, 16 colorful egg-laying hens, 19 pullets and 35 Freedom Ranger chooks are where we're at.
Farmsteading. We're very excited. Join us for the ride.
